The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization
or 'SEATO' comprised mainly of outside countries interested in the religion or the region itself. The main participants included Australia, France, New Zealand, Pakistan (including East Pakistan, now Bangladesh), the Philippines, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Institution was formed on February 19, 1955, at a meeting in Bangkok.
